
OpenAI Releases Open-Weight Reasoning Models Optimized for Laptops, Expanding AI Accessibility
OpenAI has announced the release of two new open-weight language models that excel in advanced reasoning tasks and are specifically optimized to run efficiently on laptops. These models, named gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b, bring state-of-the-art AI capabilities directly to users’ devices. The larger model, gpt-oss-120b, can operate on a single Nvidia GPU, while the lighter gpt-oss-20b version is designed to run on consumer laptops with as little as 16GB of memory.
