Indian Government Launches SOAR Initiative to Equip Students with AI Skills
The Government of India has initiated the initiative for SOAR (Skilling for AI Readiness) with the objective of equipping school students from class 6 to 12 with founder knowledge and practical skills in Artificial Intelligence. This nationwide program, introduced by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, consists of three structured 15-hour modules designed for AI awareness, programming basics, and students covering moral implications. The objective of this initiative is to prepare students for a future AI-operated career by bridging the digital division in urban and rural areas. A separate 45-hour module is also provided to train teachers, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped for effectively imparting AI education.
SOAR Initiative Details
The three student modules are titled AI to be Aware, AI to Acquire, and AI to Aspire. The first module introduces students to the basics of AI and its presence in everyday life, fostering AI awareness. The second module focuses on programming fundamentals, providing hands-on experience with AI tools. The final module addresses ethical use of AI, cybersecurity, and potential career opportunities in AI fields. Teacher training is equally comprehensive, enabling educators to embrace the new curriculum confidently and support student learning.
The program uses a mixed education approach that the hands connects the Neline platform to the hands-on workshop. Schools are encouraged to set up AI Labs and Student-Leader AI Clubs to increase ongoing education and experiments. The initiative is set up with 2047 visions of the Government of India, to create a digitally powerful, future-prepared nation through skilling. SORA The skill is also a significant goal in the ten-year journey of the India Mission, which is supported by innovative financing in view of the results of employment.
This initiative presents a big step in the creation of the world's largest AI-ready youth pay generation, which, starting in India with school education, makes AI a global leader in education and innovation. SOR Students completing the program become AI Literacy Ambassadors to India, incorporating and making ways for the future of India.
