SAP Opens €194 Million Innovation Campus in Bengaluru to Boost AI and Digital Skills
SAP Labs India has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art Innovation Campus in Bengaluru with an investment of €194 million. The sprawling facility, located near Bengaluru International Airport, is envisioned as a global innovation hub designed to house over 15,000 employees. This new campus marks SAP’s largest facility outside its headquarters in Germany and reinforces India’s strategic role in the company’s innovation and research ecosystem.
Advancing AI, Logistics, and Digital Skills Development
The Bengaluru Innovation Campus will focus extensively on enterprise artificial intelligence, product engineering, customer service, and digital skills enhancement. SAP aims to develop cutting-edge AI and data solutions within this campus to help global customers accelerate their digital transformation journeys. The campus includes the second SAP Experience Centre in India, where clients can engage with enterprise solutions in real-world scenarios.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the campus, highlighting India’s emergence as a global technology powerhouse driven by talent and innovation. Union Minister for Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and SAP leadership also participated in the inauguration, with SAP executive board member Thomas Saueressig describing the site as a “global innovation hub” helping customers move “from insight to action” through India-led enterprise AI development.
The campus is not just a workplace but a vibrant ecosystem featuring AI research labs, startup incubation centers, collaboration spaces, and smart retail technologies like an AI-powered autonomous micro market. The facility’s design reflects SAP’s commitment to employee well-being, sustainability, and cutting-edge innovation.
A Future-Ready Campus with Growth and Collaboration Focus
Currently operational with over 3,200 employees, the campus will expand gradually to reach its full capacity of 15,000 professionals. Construction is planned in phases, with the second phase approved and expected to be completed by 2028. This expansion aligns with SAP’s long-term vision of deepening its innovation leadership through significant investment in India’s technology talent pool.
SAP has also announced initiatives to train underserved youth in AI roles and collaborations with academic institutions such as IIT Madras for advanced AI-driven research. The Bengaluru campus supports India’s broader digital growth ambitions under the government’s vision for technology-led development.
By establishing this extensive Innovation Campus, SAP Labs India strengthens its position as a major global R&D center and reaffirms India’s status as a key strategic hub for enterprise technology innovation and AI development.
This milestone investment showcases global confidence in India’s talent and innovation ecosystem, setting a new benchmark for technology campuses worldwide.
