The CMO-DA uses a multimodal interface that allows astronauts to report symptoms via speech, text, and images. Operating within Google Cloud's Vertex AI environment, the system is trained on extensive spaceflight medical literature and employs cutting-edge natural language processing and machine learning techniques. It provides real-time analysis of crew health conditions and assists in making data-driven medical decisions. Initial trials tested the system on simulated cases such as ankle injuries, ear pain, and flank pain, achieving diagnostic accuracy rates ranging from 74% to 88%.
