Enterprises Bracing For Agentic AI Risks, Says Infosys
A recent report by Infosys reveals that 95 percent of enterprises globally have experienced AI-related incidents, highlighting growing concerns over the risks posed by agentic artificial intelligence. Agentic AI refers to autonomous AI systems that can independently plan and execute actions, increasing both opportunities and vulnerabilities in enterprise environments.
Despite the widespread adoption of AI, only two percent of companies currently meet the gold standards for responsible AI practices. Infosys’ research, which surveyed over 1,500 executives across multiple countries, found that while 78 percent of businesses see responsible AI as a key growth driver, many lack adequate controls to protect against reputational damage, financial loss, and regulatory non-compliance caused by AI failures.
Rising Agentic AI Risks Demand Responsible AI Push
As agentic AI systems gain more autonomy and integrate deeper into business processes, organizations face complex new security challenges. Agentic AI expands the risk surface beyond traditional AI by enabling independent decision-making and multi-level interactions with humans and other agents, often in real-time. This increases the likelihood of issues such as data breaches, unintended code execution, and manipulation of AI agents to perform harmful actions.
Infosys emphasizes that enterprises must urgently move from reactive AI risk management to proactive and strategic responsible AI frameworks. This involves embedding ethical, transparent, and safe AI practices into AI development and deployment. Establishing centralized governance, bolstering data security, and continuous monitoring are critical to mitigating risks while unlocking the value of agentic AI.
Executives at Infosys highlight that responsible AI not only safeguards against operational and reputational harm but also positions companies to capitalize on agentic AI’s transformative potential. As AI systems become more autonomous, building trust and accountability into enterprise AI solutions will be decisive for sustainable growth in the evolving AI landscape.
